More Praise

So I named this post "Miracle Mila" because in my mind, no matter the outcome, Mila is a miracle.  I truly believe that all children are.  I also believe that whether this whole season was just a test and Mila ends up just delayed or she has a severe diagnosis, in God's sovereignty the outcome will be perfect! i.e. the miracle.  

 Do I believe in the kind of miracle where God can make a sick person well, sure I do.  God can do anything.  To dive deeper, I believe miracles happen because God, in His Soveringty, run's the scenerio so that he receives the Glory.  So, if Miracle Mila were to get her blood results back and she doesn't have the severe "Rubinstain Taybi Syndrome," we would all agree that is a miracle!  Right!  Well thanks to all you who have prayed for our sweet angel because she does not have RTS!!!!!  Praise the Lord!

 Soak it in because we did.  The initial news was shocking!  We prayed for this outcome but truthfully Michelle and I expected the results to be that she does have RTS.  You may wonder why... Well, there are still some unexplained problems that RTS would have answered.  For example:

 - Why is Mila almost 10 months and  weighs less than 13lbs?  
- Why is she not sleeping through the night?
- Why is she not attempting to scoot, crawl or stand?
- Why is she only babbling?

 Every professional we have met with has been unanimous that there is a cause other than the universal delays.  Every opinion has been more than she is just small.  Every sign has been there is something wrong.  BUT the recent tests are leading us to believe that whatever these professionals are eluding too is not as serious as we had thought.

 So what about the Will of God.  Was it God's Will that Mila was never to have RTS.  Was it the Will of God that many people prayed for Mila and even fasted for a merciful outcome.  Is the miracle that we can now sing His praises because of the great news, God's Will.  I believe all of them are within His Will because they all help us understand a little of God's character in our lifetime pursuit of knowing him.   

 In the Gospel of John (Chapter 9) one of Jesus's disciples observed a blind man and asked "who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him."  So the works here are many!  The power of prayer, the blessing of healing and the reliance upon God for strength.  I would say that he is receiving the Glory which is what he wants. With the great news of Mila not having Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome, to God be the glory.  To the fact that many of you have prayed for Mila and our family, to God be the glory.  No matter the outcome from here... To God be the glory!

Since we heard someone say that what they observed in Mila was "either neurological or genetic." We have had very little to celebrate.  Then you think of Mila... Sweet little Mila has been poked, prodded, checked, strapped down, observed and tested... All for the same result... nothing definitive. Yesterday we went to the Cardiologist.  This was a scary appointment because with unanimous consistency all the perceived diagnosis of Mia has come with an asterisk "Increased chances of heart defects."  So with not much to celebrate since May, a sea of unanswered appointments and observed diagnosis that warn of heart problems we take our Mila to yet another appointment, with little hope.  We walk in and poor Mila started crying.  Our hearts sank because she knew that more discomfort was coming.  She stayed strong and fought to keep her contentment. Mila Update

It has been a while since we sent an update and that is thankfully because things have been good. We have all remained healthy, except for a broken foot (Sofia) and a trip to the ER for Mila. With her it is a reversal of the traditional 4th child feeling. Typically, the more kids you have, the more relaxed you are when someone gets hurts. This is not how we are with our Mila. She fell and hit her head which prompted an immediate 911 call and trip to the ER. Thankfully there was no internal bleeding, just a concussion but we learned a lot from this experience. We learned that we do treat her more delicately. We learned that people in the medical field know NOTHING about Myhre Syndrome, but are more vigilant when you say rare disease. We have been blessed with a great team of doctors who are sympathetic to our situation. Chiari Decompression Surgery

Well POOP.  Today we met with the Neuro Surgeon to hear the results of the MRI.  As a refresher we had an MRI of Mila's entire spine to check for pooling of fluid or the formation of cysts  (related  to Chiari Malformation), Spina bifida and tethered cord.  If you would have asked Michelle and I what we thought would be the outcome we would have predicted correctly. There is no presence of any deformity in Mila’s lower spine which we praise the Lord for.  We were concerned because with Chiari there is a connection to Spina Bifida and we found a bump above Mila's bottom.  This was just shown to be fatty tissue! Tethered Cord was also a non issue, praise the Lord.   Regarding the pooling of fluid at her C1 and C2 vertebrae,  there is a noticeable difference, "more prominent” from the last MRI 6 months ago. Thankfully cysts have not formed on her spine but that does not change the surgeons opinion... We need surgery, Chi...
