Joy

This was one of the hardest years of our life.  There was the news and constant trial with Mila, we moved, Sofia started school, medical bills and finances mounted, and personally there were some internal struggles.  However, I would say that as bad as things were we had JOY!  We have a wonderfully joyful home.  There is constant laughter.  We find joy in the biggest of things and in the simple.  So amidst the biggest struggles in our life why could we have joy.  The Lord.

There is a reason this season has songs like, "Joy to the World."  In Luke when he recounts the birth narrative, the Angel of the Lord said, "I bring you good news of a great Joy, that will be for all the people."  In Acts the Disciples, amidst persecution, were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.  It seems fitting this time of year to proclaim, that this joy, a tranquil peace, is only from a faith in Jesus Christ.  God did not promise we will not have sorrow.  The Good News has story after story of sickness and death.  We are told that there will be these evil things but to have heart because "I (Jesus) have overcome the World."  So when the Angel came to celebrate the birth of our Savior and sang Glory to God in the Highest." The night Jesus was born... God sent, the visible image of Himself to overcome the World so that in our small story, we will find joy!

Rest family and friends, we may have sorrow that Mila has pain.  We may be anxious for a neurological surgeon to tell us if our sweet Mila will have surgery or not.  We may have days of frustration because of the mounting internal pressures and external distractions, but take heart... because of our Lord and Savior we still have joy!
